Hello Guys, nice to be here.

I found you via CWDF.

Simon, we've done both rivers several times, but since changing from a narrowboat to a widebeam our cruising area has shrunk a little. Although we went down to Wigan in the summer for dry docking, we are having a three week break next June and intend to sail up to Ripon and over to Lincoln. To be quite honest, we got very fed up with the narrow system, too busy, too intense, too twee.

We now live aboard a replica Dutch barge and are loving it....

Regards, Andy.

hi andy !

i am only a novice narrow boater as i have a wide beam fibreglass cruiser on the broads.

i have never been on the leeds-liverpool only just passed it while on the A59 to preston, and

i thought the locks were all narrow until you got to wigan. as much as i know.

i like the sound of a replica dutch barge and even more living aboard. good stuff

Alan, the next tme you are on the A59, you let me know. I can bore with the tale of when I broke down in a lorry on the top of Tow Law, complete electrical failure, no cab night heater, coldest night of my life.

that was before night heaters and proper sleeper cabs

it is cold, windy and wet on a good day at tow law
