New moorings Wanted

For everyone Tewkesbury and North

New moorings Wanted

Postby gulliver7952 on Thu Jul 31, 2008 11:20 am

After being promised a lot by the new owners of 'Telstar Moorings' in Tewkesbury (and things promised have not materialised) I'm having to follow the pack and find pastures new.

We are now down to 3 boats plus one that has been under water since March time????
We were looking after each others boats as the owners of the moorings are not on site but as I am the only one who is there on a regular basis ie once a week (very rarely see the owners of the boats that are left). I feel I must move before the winter floods arrives.

On top of that overnight parking in Tewkesbury is a nightmare.

After ringing Tewks Bourgh Council for advise on overnight parking, I was told that I would have to buy an annual season ticket?? They had no systems in place to accommodate people who wished to leave cars in Long Stay for more than one day, other than replace ticket on a daily basis. (about as much use to me as a chocolate teapot)

TEWKESBURY'S OPEN FOR BUSINESS re: Over The Rainbow weekend. I don't think so.

So My options are proberly Bredon area as it's not much further to drive time wise and milage from Tewks.

I'll be sorry to leave Tewks as it was handy for shops and only a half hour drive from home.

I have made enquiries at the Old Rectory Meadow at Bredon. They do/did have some moorings available. Will ring again this weekend as they were on hol last week.

CONGRATULATIONS :D :D :D on your forthcoming event.

is that the moorings just on the corner above the motorway bridge?

Funnily we stopped at Tewksebury in july and saw there were hardly any boats moored there any more compared to the number that they had.

Yes, going up river from the M5 'The Old Rectory' moorings are the 1st ones on the the right. Then there are two others, Bredon Marina (from the corner) and the one in the middle (can't think of the name) used to have caravans until the Flood.

Had hoped to have got it sorted at the weekend but things went a bit pear shaped Sat. (got me car locked in a carpark in Bristol Sat night) Went to the Bristol Festival.

So will try to get mooring sorted this week.

As for boats at Tewks, there used to be 20 plus moored at the Back of Avon. Now the pontoons are all wrecked. The only ones that are in reasonable condition are where I am moored, just past the Slipway.

Mooring now sorted. :D Moving to The Old Rectory at Bredon. Costing an extra £100 per year in mooring fees but will be worth it in the long run. Just for the free no hasle parking.

Will still have the Tewkesbury mooring till March should I ever need it.

May move the boat this Sunday, if not will be next weekend.

Just wondering what price they charge for their moorings and how secure are they?
Can you get your car right down to the boat?

We are considering moving moorings.
Pm me if easier.

Moved boat to new mooring today. Very nice although you can hear the traffic on the M5 half mile or so away.
One shared electric point fed by meter and one water point.
