Boats in this weekend!

Boats in this weekend!

Postby hypnorm on Tue Mar 11, 2008 1:10 pm

Well this weekend dad's boat goes back in the water, along with everyone elses.
We went over on Saturday and i swept all the muddy silt off the mooring and also dads.
Was going to take Fairhaven out for a run, but the wind picked up and although getting out would have been fine, getting back in would have been interesting.
Batteries are back on, and the engines are running. :D

Hopefully we will get out on it more this year!

I'm hoping to get my first trip in at the weekend if the weather becomes a bit less feisty.

I have somewhere in the region of 20 gallons of diesel to burn off in 2 weeks. before transport.

Had to abandon ship at 1:30pm on Sunday.
Got to Tewks about 11am, saw river was highish and pontoons were 4-5" above the water.
By 1pm could see that the water was rising and had got just about level with pontoon. By 1:15 water was starting to creep up the pontoon. So I thought time to go home.
Took some gear back to the car, when I got back pontoon was covered. Lucky not to get wet feet.

So I expect the pontoons will have to be cleaned down again next weekend.

Weather looks a bit rubbish for easter.

However come rain or shine, I'll be up and down the sharpness on the friday, and the sunday, and maybe saturday too.
